Valid Evaluations is led by Alistair Hallam, previously a Director for Valid International. Both Alistair and Dr Steve Collins have extensive experience of humanitarian aid programme implementation, evaluation and research. Both have managed and designed relief programmes and have led and participated in many evaluations, including the 1995 Joint Evaluation of Emergency Assistance to Rwanda which was the precursor to a string of reforms across the humanitarian sector. Valid employs some of the best humanitarian evaluators in the world with the expertise in humanitarian, economic and livelihoods experience with significant fragile states and practical evaluation knowledge. Valid’s humanitarian evaluation record includes involvement in a number of major evaluations over the past decade, as well as work for ODI/ALNAP on humanitarian evaluation and evaluation utilisation. We work for a wide range of donors, including UN Agencies, the World Bank, DFID, AUSAID, NGOs and Red Cross movement organisations, and have cooperated with many international and national NGOs and research institutes in developing countries. Most recently, Valid has undertaken the Inter Agency Humanitarian Evaluation of Hurricane Haiyan in the Philippines and we are currently implementing a 4-year long evaluation project for DFID on the impact of Multi Year Funding on Building Resilience and Managing Risk in Fragile and Conflict-affected States in DRC, Yemen, Sudan and Ethiopia.
