Since 2006, Valid International has been working in partnership with the municipal health authority in Lusaka in the implementation of a Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme. Valid has also supplying the RUF used in this project, whilst also conducting trials for more cost-efficient forms of RUF. Valid has a permanent presence in the country.


Valid’s work in Zambia has included:

2008
Supporting WFP in the review of their Supplementary Feeding Programmes in-country.Supporting Bwafwano Community Home Based Care Organization in conducting training on Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC).

Supporting UNICEF & the National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) in the implementation of a Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme in Eastern Province.

Supporting the Rainbow Project in conducting a programme assessment and training on the management of severe malnutrition.

Supporting Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in conducting a Training on the Implementation and Management of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) and High-Energy Protein Supplements (HEPS) for severely and moderately malnourished children.

2006
Supporting & training Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in setting up a major initiative for providing RUF to people living with HIV/AIDS across a large part of rural Zambia.

2005-2008
Supporting the Lusaka District Health Management Team (LDHMT) in the roll-out of Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) across Lusaka. The Lusaka programme was co-financed by Concern Worldwide and the World Bank (ongoing).
