Valid have been working in Ethiopia since 2003 conducting operational research for developing and demonstrating the Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) model. We have supported a number of partners to establish CTC programmes as well as in establishing reliable RUF production. Valid's partnership with Concern Worldwide since 2002, and with FANTA in 2002-2004 was essential in ensuring the development of CTC. Since 2005, Valid maintains a permanent presence in the country.


Valid’s work in Ethiopia has included:

Supporting UNHCR in the implementation of a Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme in the Kabribeyah & Pugnido Refugee Camps.

Supporting Save the Children (US) in conducting a Centric Systematic Area Sampling (CSAS) coverage survey of their Bona, Sidama Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme.

2007
Supporting Save the Children (US) 'Community based nutrition management and support of acutely malnourished Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) & Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) infected and affected by HIV' programme in Addis Ababa and Eastern Showa, Oromia State.

2006-2007
Supporting World Vision in the implementation of a Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme in Durame, SNNPR. Supporting ADRA in the implementation of a Community-based Therapeutic Care (CTC) programme in Somali Region.

Supporting Concern Worldwide in the assessment of factors affecting household nutrition security, health seeking behaviour and water & sanitation practices in Afar Region.
